I’m going to admit something slightly embarrassing.

I listened to The Five-Star Weekend audiobook while packing up the last pieces of my life in Boston.

And somewhere between the tape gun, the cardboard boxes, and trying to figure out why I own 47 black tank tops, something hit me.

The main character suddenly loses her husband and has to figure out who she is without the life she built around him.

Now before you panic, Philip is alive and well and still questioning my collection of black leggings.

But there was something about that story that landed differently for me this time.

Because I’m not just moving houses.

I’m leaving behind 30 years of identity.

Boston Kim.
Fitness Kim.
The version of me who had every grocery store aisle memorized.
The version of me who knew exactly what every day looked like.
The version of me who could practically run her life like a military operation with protein powder.

And now?

I’m standing in Florida staring at blue plastic bags full of clothes wondering:
“Wait… what actually is my life now?”

The Routine That Once Worked

For years I believed the answer to everything was hustle.

Work harder.
Wake up earlier.
Earn your food.
Earn your rest.
Earn your fun.
Earn your worth.

And honestly? A lot of us Gen X women were raised this way.

We took pride in being grinders.

I definitely did.

I wore “busy” like it was a designer label.

Back in my 30s, I was working out two hours a day, meal prepping like it was a competitive sport, teaching classes, tracking macros, chasing soreness like it was proof I mattered.

And at the time? That routine fit my life.

But here’s the thing nobody talks about:

Just because something worked for you before doesn’t mean it belongs in your life forever.

Sometimes your life changes before your mindset catches up.

And that’s where so many women get stuck.

They keep trying to shove an old routine into a completely different season of life.

Your Life Outgrew the Routine

I see this all the time with women over 40.

They tell me:
“But back in the day I used to…”

Girl.
I know.

Back in the day you also had different hormones, different responsibilities, different stress levels, different energy, and maybe fewer people needing pieces of you all day long.

Your life evolved.

Your routine probably needs to evolve too.

That doesn’t mean you’re lazy.
It doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
It doesn’t mean you’re “letting yourself go.”

It just means the old system no longer matches the life you actually have.

And honestly?
That realization can feel weirdly emotional.

Because routines become identities.

The Brick Wall Moment

For me, the shift started years ago.

I stopped wanting fitness to run my entire life.

I stopped wanting my self-worth tied to whether I got a workout in.

I stopped wanting every vacation, dinner, and random Tuesday to revolve around food tracking and “being good.”

And then life kept nudging me harder.

A friend of mine had a stroke from the grind.

Not metaphorically.
Literally.

And it made me realize how normalized exhaustion had become.

We clap for burnout like it’s ambition.

We act like rest is something you unlock after enough suffering.

And I just don’t want to live like that anymore.

I don’t want to earn my existence.

What This Season Looks Like

Right now I’m in a full wandering season.

I haven’t worked out consistently in weeks.
My steps are questionable at best.
I still don’t know where half my kitchen stuff is.

But I have focused on two things:
Protein.
Sleep.

That’s it.

Because this season isn’t asking me to become a machine.

It’s asking me to settle in.
To connect.
To explore.
To figure out what fun looks like when it’s not attached to productivity or a paycheck.

And honestly?
That’s harder than any diet I’ve ever done.

A lot of us don’t actually know how to relax.

We know how to “be productive while pretending to relax.”

Very different skill set.

Maybe You’re Not Off Track

Maybe the reason your old routine feels impossible isn’t because you need more discipline.

Maybe it’s because your life is asking for something different now.

Less punishment.
Less hustle.
Less proving.

More support.
More flexibility.
More actual living.

Maybe this season isn’t about squeezing yourself back into an old version of you.

Maybe it’s about building a life that finally fits who you are now.

And honestly?

That might be the healthiest thing you ever do.

You’re already walking.

Trying to be consistent. Trying to “do the right things.”

And then out of nowhere…
your feed is like:

👉 you need a weighted vest
👉 you should be doing more
👉 walking alone isn’t enough

And suddenly your brain goes,
“Maybe that’s what I’m missing…”

So now you’re this close to buying something that, let’s be honest, might end up next to your resistance bands from 2020.

Let’s pause for a second.

Because the problem usually isn’t that you’re not doing enough.

It’s that you’re making something simple way more complicated than it needs to be.

Let’s Talk About Rucking

In my latest Fit Girl Magic podcast, I sat down with Kayla Girgen, and we talked about rucking.

Which, at its core, is just…
walking with weight.

That’s it.

Not CrossFit.
Not military bootcamp.
Not “if you’re not sweating, you’re not working.”

Just walking… with a little more intention.

And here’s what I loved most about the conversation:

👉 You don’t need to overhaul your life
👉 You don’t need perfect conditions
👉 You don’t even need fancy equipment

You can literally grab a backpack, throw in a dumbbell or a couple books, and go.

Weighted Vest vs Backpack (What Actually Matters)

This is where people start to spiral.

“Should I get the vest?”
“Is the backpack better?”
“What weight should I use?”

And suddenly something that could take 5 minutes to start… turns into a research project.

Here’s the simple breakdown:

A weighted vest distributes weight front and back

A ruck (backpack) keeps weight on your back and can actually help posture

The bigger difference?

👉 Vests are usually fixed weight
👉 Backpacks are adjustable (aka way easier to progress)

But honestly?

That’s not even the most important part.

The most important part is…
you actually doing it.

The Biggest Mistake (And You Already Know This One)

Waiting for the perfect time.

“I’ll start when the weather is nicer.”
“I’ll start when things calm down.”
“I’ll start when I feel more motivated.”

Sound familiar?

Meanwhile… weeks go by.

And nothing changes.

Here’s the truth:

The hardest part is the first walk.

After that?
It gets a whole lot easier.

How to Start Without Overthinking It

You don’t need a plan. You need a starting point.

Try this:

Grab a backpack

Add ~10 pounds (books, dumbbell, whatever you’ve got)

Go for a walk

That’s it.

You don’t need:
❌ a specific route
❌ a perfect outfit
❌ a 60-minute window

Just start.

Let’s Talk About the “Do More” Trap

This is where most women get stuck.

You think:
“If I’m not pushing harder, it doesn’t count.”

So, you:

add more workouts

increase intensity

pile on expectations

…and then wonder why you can’t stay consistent.

Here’s the reframe:

Some days you push.
Some days you hold the line.
Some days you just go for the damn walk.

👉 All of it counts.

The Part No One Talks About (But You’ll Feel Immediately)

The mental shift.

Yes, rucking can:

help build strength

support bone density

increase intensity without wrecking your joints

But the real magic?

It gets you out of your head.

There’s something about walking—with a little load—that makes you:

stop overthinking

stop spiraling

actually breathe

It’s simple… but it works.

Final Thought

You don’t need another plan.

You don’t need more motivation.

And you definitely don’t need to make your routine harder just to feel like it “counts.”

You just need to make it easier to show up.

Want the Full Breakdown?

If this hit… go listen to the full Fit Girl Magic podcast episode with Kayla Girgen.

We go deeper into:

how to progress weight

how to fit this into your current routine

and how to stop overcomplicating your workouts for good

And the wild part?

Old Me Would’ve Done This

Old me would’ve sat down Sunday night like a woman on a mission.

“Okay… if I wake up earlier, move things around, if they come on time and everything goes perfectly…
I can still hit 5 workouts.”

I would’ve mapped it all out like a perfectly engineered schedule.

And when it didn’t work — because it never does —
I’d go to bed annoyed.

Let that sink in.

The Real Problem No One Talks About

No.

You don’t need more discipline.

You need a plan that actually fits your life.

Because here’s the truth no one wants to admit:

What Changed for Me

Now?

My life is chaos right now.

And guess what?

That version actually happens.

Because trying to force a perfect week in a messy life?

That’s how you end up quitting by Thursday.

That’s how you end up in the cycle of:
“I’ll start again Monday.”
“I’ll get it together next week.”
“I’ll be better when things calm down.”

And let’s be honest…

When has life ever truly calmed down?

Exactly.

The Shift That Changes Everything

The goal isn’t to build a plan that works when life is calm.

The goal is to build a plan that works when life is loud.

A little chaotic.

And when your plan matches your life?

Back in my competition days, “rest day” wasn’t even part of my vocabulary.

If I wasn’t training six days a week, lifting heavy, sweating through cardio, or pretending yoga counted as recovery, I felt like I was slacking. The old me thought if I slowed down, I’d lose everything I’d worked for.

Sound familiar?

Fast-forward to today, and I’ve learned something big: your body isn’t built by burnout, it’s built by recovery.

And after listening to Dr. Bret Contreras (The Glute Guy) on the Huberman Lab Podcast, I felt so validated. Everything he talked about, progressive overload, full-body training, and Maximum Recoverable Volume (which is just science-speak for “don’t overdo it”), lined up perfectly with how I train now and how I coach my clients.

Why “More” Isn’t Better

The truth? Most women I work with are already doing too much.
Too many workouts. Too little recovery. Too much guilt when they skip a day.

But here’s what Dr. Bret reminded me: it’s not about how much you do, it’s about how well you do it and how much your body can recover from.

That’s your Maximum Recoverable Volume, the sweet spot where you push your limits but still allow your body to rebuild. Because you don’t grow in the gym… you grow when you rest.

How Much You Really Need to Lift

If you’re over 40 and wondering where to start, here’s what the science (and my experience) says:

Beginners: 2 full-body lifts a week

Intermediate/Advanced: 3 full-body sessions or a simple upper/lower split

Each workout: 3 sets per exercise, focusing on big compound moves like squats, presses, deadlifts, hip thrusts, and rows

And please, track your weights. Don’t guess. Progressive overload (gradually increasing the challenge) is how you get stronger, not by chasing soreness or doing random “burnout” circuits.

The Real Flex: Recovery

Recovery isn’t lazy. It’s strategic.
You can’t grow muscle or strength if your body never gets the downtime it needs to rebuild.

Rest days don’t mean doing nothing, they mean doing what supports your body best: walking, sleeping, stretching, or just not forcing another workout because you “should.”

As Dr. Bret said, even missing a few workouts or taking a deload week isn’t failure, it’s smart.

My New Fitness Philosophy: Less, But Better

This is where I feel totally vindicated.
I’ve been preaching the “less, but better” approach for years, and it’s finally getting the spotlight it deserves.

Here’s what that looks like:

Less volume. More intensity.

More rest. Less guilt.

More consistency. Less chaos.

It’s not about hustling harder; it’s about showing up smarter.

The Takeaway

If you only have time for one thing, make it lifting.
And if you only remember one thing, your body isn’t built by burnout.

The stronger, calmer, more energized version of you is built when you learn to train in harmony with your body, not against it.

And if you want help putting this into practice, join us inside the Fit Girl Magic Society.
You’ll get workouts under 60 minutes, a plan that fits your life, and a community that reminds you that rest is productive.

Because strength isn’t just what you lift, it’s how you live.

Smarter Workouts After 40: Train for Life, Not Punishment

For years, I lived by the rule: if I wasn’t in the gym for two hours a day, six days a week, it didn’t count. Body part splits were life. Chest and back. Buys and tries. Legs. Repeat.

And if I wasn’t drenched in sweat or crawling out of the gym half-dead? Forget it, I thought the workout was a waste.

Sound familiar?

Why That Doesn’t Work Anymore

When I hit 40, my body staged a full-on rebellion.
The same workouts that used to keep me lean started leaving me exhausted, inflamed, and frustrated. That magical progesterone buffer that helped me bounce back? Gone.

Here’s the reality:

Hormones shift, recovery slows, and stress hits harder.

More hours in the gym don’t equal better results.

Crunches won’t flatten your belly (yep, I said it).

Midlife isn’t about punishing your body—it’s about training it to keep up with life.

Train for Life, Not for Likes

These days, my workouts look totally different.
Instead of endless cardio or “bro splits,” I focus on:

Mobility first. Foam rolling, dynamic stretches, and prep work that make my body happy.

Power moves. No, not circus-style jumps. Think kettlebell swings, jump rope, or anything that mimics real-life speed and strength.

Functional strength. Pushing, pulling, squatting movements that make carrying groceries, chasing kids, or tossing a suitcase in the overhead bin easier.

Balance and stability. Because losing your footing on an icy sidewalk shouldn’t mean a trip to the ER.

Smart finishers. Ten-minute blasts that rev the engine without wrecking me.

Let’s Talk About Crunches

Here’s the thing: crunches won’t give you abs.
They won’t get rid of belly fat. And over time, they can actually put unnecessary strain on your spine (think bending a credit card until it snaps).

The truth? Belly fat in your 40s+ is way more about hormones, inflammation, and gut health than sit-ups. And those six-packs you see on Instagram? 80% genetics.

Strong doesn’t have to mean shredded. Strong means you can live your life without your body holding you back.

Quality Over Quantity

A killer workout isn’t about clocking endless hours. It’s about moving smart, lifting heavy (for YOU), and walking away feeling energized, not beat down.

Some of the best workouts I’ve done? Fifteen minutes. No joke.

Because it’s not about how long you train, it’s about how well you train.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: hormone therapy.

So many women in perimenopause or menopause are shelling out cash for HRT (hormone replacement therapy), convinced it’s going to be the thing that finally helps them feel like themselves again. And when it doesn’t? They’re left feeling frustrated, confused, and like their body is broken.

Here’s the truth most people won’t tell you:

Hormones don’t operate in isolation.
Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone may get all the airtime, but they’re only part of the picture. Hormones work in a complex hierarchy—like a web. And if you tug on one without checking the rest, you risk throwing your whole system off.

This is where a lot of women go wrong.

They start HRT or hop on the latest GLP-1 medication hoping for instant magic—but feel worse or no different. Why? Because the upstream issues haven’t been addressed.

Think of it like revving the engine of a car with no gas, low oil, and a clogged filter. It doesn’t matter how shiny the parts are—it’s not going anywhere.

Here’s What You Need to Know First:

1. Hormones Are a Web, Not a Solo Act
Adding one hormone affects all of them. You can’t support insulin or glucagon without also influencing cortisol, estrogen, thyroid hormones, and more. If your system is inflamed or stressed out, the body won’t respond the way you want it to.

2. Address the Foundation First
Sleep, blood sugar, nutrition, stress, inflammation—those are the pillars. If you skip over these and jump straight to hormone therapy, it’s like putting new tires on a car that doesn’t have an engine.

3. There’s No Silver Bullet
This part is hard to hear, but real talk: the long way is the shortcut. I get it—everyone wants the fast fix. But lasting change takes time, strategy, and a full-body approach. You don’t need another hack—you need a plan that starts with the basics.

So What Can You Do?

Before you jump into HRT or any kind of hormone support, ask yourself:

Am I sleeping consistently?

Have I managed my blood sugar and insulin resistance?

What’s my stress level really like?

Am I moving my body in a way that supports—not drains—me?

Once these are dialed in, then hormone therapy can actually work the way it’s supposed to.

Final Thoughts:

If you’re feeling preyed upon by quick fixes, influencers, or supplement pushers—you’re not alone. Perimenopausal and menopausal women have been gaslit for decades. My mission is to help you become an informed, empowered consumer who knows how to support her body from the inside out.

You’re not broken. You’re just missing the roadmap.

Need help figuring out where to start?
Leave a comment below

Embracing imperfection can lead to real progress. Many, like Sarah, struggle with perfectionism, causing them to quit after setbacks. However, consistency beats perfection. Adopting a "good enough" mindset allows for flexibility in routines and fosters long-term success. Start today, messily if needed, and watch your results flourish!

If it’s not perfect, does it even count? (Hint: YES.)

Meet Sarah. She had her meal prep down to a science, her workouts scheduled like military operations, and her macros tracked to the gram. But the second she missed one workout or grabbed takeout on a crazy Wednesday? Game over. Back to square one. Start fresh Monday.

Sound painfully familiar?

The Perfectionism Prison That Keeps You Stuck

Here’s the brutal truth: Perfectionism isn’t helping you lose belly fat — it’s the reason you keep starting over.

You know the cycle. You create this impossibly detailed plan. You follow it perfectly for… what, three days? A week if you’re really on fire. Then life happens. You miss a workout, eat the office donuts, or have wine with dinner instead of your planned protein smoothie.

And instead of just getting back on track, you throw in the towel completely. Because if it’s not perfect, what’s the point, right?

Wrong. So, so wrong.

Why Your All-or-Nothing Brain is Sabotaging You

Your perfectionist brain thinks it’s protecting you from failure. But here’s what’s actually happening: You’re failing more because you keep quitting.

The woman who works out 3 times a week consistently for a year will see way more results than the woman who does perfect workouts for 2 weeks, then quits for 3 months, then starts over with another “perfect” plan.

Consistency beats perfection every single time. And it’s not even close.

The “Good Enough” Revolution

What if I told you that “good enough” gets better results than perfect?

Take Lisa, one of my clients. She used to spend Sunday night meal prepping for 3 hours, then feel like a failure when she didn’t stick to every single container. Now? She keeps protein bars in her purse, throws some berries on Greek yogurt when she’s running late, and calls it breakfast.

The result? She’s lost 15 pounds and actually enjoys her routine instead of feeling chained to it.

Your New “Good → Better → Best” Game Plan

Here’s how to break free from the perfection trap:

Good: Can’t do your planned hour-long workout? Do 20 minutes. Missed your morning protein? Have it at lunch. Ate pizza for dinner? Drink extra water and move on.

Better: Plan for imperfection. Have backup options ready. Protein bars for crazy days. 15-minute workouts for when life gets nuts.

Best: Realize that showing up imperfectly is infinitely better than not showing up at all.

The Reality Check You Need

After 40, your life is full. You have responsibilities, stress, hormones doing whatever they want, and approximately zero extra time for perfect meal prep and two-hour gym sessions.

The women who succeed? They’re not the ones with perfect plans. They’re the ones who keep going when their plans fall apart.

They eat the birthday cake and get back to their protein goals the next day. They miss a workout and do some squats while watching Netflix instead of waiting until Monday to “start fresh.”

Stop Waiting for Perfect Monday

Monday will never be perfect. Your schedule will never be completely clear. Your motivation will never be permanently high.

Start where you are, with what you have, right now. Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s not Instagram-worthy. Even if it’s just drinking one more glass of water today.

Because the woman who starts imperfectly today will be weeks ahead of the woman still waiting for the perfect moment to begin.

Ready to ditch the perfection prison and start seeing real results?

👉 I walk through exactly how to break free from the all-or-nothing cycle in Day 4 of my 5-Day Belly Fat Reset podcast. We’re talking about building flexibility into your plan, creating backup options that actually work, and finally making peace with “good enough.”

Because perfect is the enemy of progress, and you deserve progress more than perfection.

Ever feel like you’re following every health rule in the book but the belly fat’s like, “Nice try, 😜”?

You know the drill. You meal prep like a boss. Hit the gym religiously. Say no to happy hour (again). Yet here you are, staring at the scale like it’s personally betraying you while your favorite jeans give you the silent treatment.

Here’s the plot twist nobody talks about: You’re not failing the system — the system’s failing you.

The “Perfect Diet” Trap That’s Sabotaging Your Success

Let’s get real for a hot second. You’ve probably tried:

Cutting calories to practically nothing

Doing cardio until you’re dizzy

Eliminating entire food groups

Following someone else’s “miracle” routine

And what happened? Your body went into full panic mode, slowed your metabolism to a crawl, and held onto that belly fat like it’s going out of style.

Here’s what actually works: Stop fighting your biology and start working with it instead.

Why Your 40+ Body Plays by Different Rules

After 40, your hormones aren’t just changing — they’re having a full-blown identity crisis. Cortisol’s running the show, insulin’s getting moody, and your metabolism’s basically taken a permanent coffee break.

That’s why the same tricks that worked in your 20s now feel like pushing a boulder uphill in stilettos.

The good news? Once you understand what your body actually needs (hint: it’s not more punishment), the results come faster than you’d expect.

The One Swap That Changes Everything

Ready for something that actually moves the needle? This week, trade one of those soul-crushing HIIT sessions for 20 minutes of strength training followed by a gentle 15-minute walk.

Your metabolism will thank you. Your joints will thank you. And that stubborn belly fat? It’ll finally start getting the memo.

Stop Guessing, Start Winning

Look, you don’t need another complicated plan or expensive supplement. You need a strategy that actually makes sense for your real life and your actual body.

Ready to ditch the guesswork?

👉 Listen to my free 5-Day Belly Fat Reset podcast series. Five days, five game-changing strategies, zero fluff. Just the stuff that actually works for women over 40 who are tired of spinning their wheels.

P.S. — Day 3 covers the sneaky hormone trick that melts belly fat while you sleep. You’re going to love it.

If We’re Honest: Why You’re Not Broken (But Your Strategy Might Be)

Ever feel like your body has ghosted you?
You’re doing everything “right”—cutting carbs, logging your food, fasted cardio, workouts on repeat—and STILL nothing’s changing?

Let’s cut through the noise:
You’re not broken. You’re just following rules that no longer work for the version of you today.

This blog is your real-talk permission slip to stop chasing the perfect plan… and finally start building a strategy that fits your actual life.

Plateaus Aren’t Personal — They’re Just Math

So many women tell me, “I’m doing everything, Kim. Why isn’t it working?”

The truth?
Your body isn’t punishing you.
It’s adapting.

That plateau you’re frustrated with? It’s not a sign to go harder or eat less. It’s your body saying, “This strategy isn’t working anymore.” That doesn’t mean you’re doomed. It means it’s time to get curious, not frantic.

Let Go of the Fantasy Routine

If I had a dollar for every time I heard, “I just need to get back to what I used to do…”

But let’s be real:
Your life looks NOTHING like it did 5, 10, 15 years ago.
– Maybe you have kids now.
– Maybe you’re taking care of aging parents.
– Maybe your job is 10x more demanding.

Your body, your time, and your energy are different now. So why are you still expecting the old plan to work?

Let’s build a strategy that fits this season—not some fantasy version of your life that only exists in your head.

The Power of 1–3 Non-Negotiables

You don’t need a 12-step system or a full-body detox to see results. You need consistency with the basics.

Here’s where I want you to start:
Pick 1–3 non-negotiables. That’s it.

Think:
– Protein at every meal
– Walking 8,000–10,000 steps
– A bedtime that doesn’t involve doom-scrolling
– Lifting weights 2–3x per week

They don’t have to be fancy. They just have to be doable—even when life gets lifey.

Because sustainable results come from repeating what actually works for your life.

You Don’t Need to Try Harder—You Need to Train Smarter

Stop dipping your toe in and out of the latest trends.
Stop chasing fast results that burn you out in two weeks.
Stop restarting every Monday.

You’re not lazy.
You’re exhausted from doing too much of what doesn’t serve you.

What if—hear me out—you gave yourself an entire year to build a strong, resilient, energized body instead of trying to force 30-day transformations?

That’s what real change looks like.

Pick Your Pace (And Make Peace With It)

Your results don’t come from doing more.
They come from doing what you can actually maintain. And that’s going to look different in each season of life.

Every 90 days, check in with yourself:
– What’s working?
– What’s draining me?
– What do I need to adjust?

And if you find yourself saying, “I know what to do, I just can’t stay consistent,”—you don’t need more willpower. You need a new strategy.

Final Word: You Are the Magic

You don’t need to earn your food.
You don’t need to “undo” anything.
You don’t need another detox, reset, or 75-day bootcamp.

You just need a plan that works for YOU.

The name of my podcast is Fit Girl Magic for a reason. Because the magic?
It’s not in the scale.
It’s not in the plan.
It’s in YOU.

Why Fat Loss Isn’t Forever (And What to Do Instead If You’re Over 40)

Let’s be honest: Most women over 40 have been living in diet jail for decades.

You’re either “on” the plan, or you’re deep in a bag of chips wondering what went wrong. You’re counting carbs, avoiding sugar, slashing calories, and somehow still not seeing results. Sound familiar?

In this post, I’m breaking down why fat loss isn’t meant to be a lifestyle—it’s a phase. And if you’ve been dieting since the days of thigh masters and low-fat yogurt, it’s time to shake things up.

Step 1: Know the Difference—Weight Loss vs. Body Composition

Let’s start here: Do you actually need to lose weight… or are you chasing better body composition?

For most women I work with, it’s not about the scale—it’s about how they feel in their jeans. It’s about belly bloat, hormonal fluff, or not recognizing their body anymore. The number might not change, but your shape will.

Body composition = more muscle, less fluff. And yes, that can happen without the scale budging.

Step 2: Fat Loss is a SEASON, Not a Forever Plan

Your body isn’t designed to be in fat loss mode 365 days a year. That’s a one-way ticket to burnout, broken metabolism, and cravings that hit harder than a 90s boy band comeback.

👉 Enter the 12–16 week fat loss phase.

This is your focused window to tweak your food, tighten up your habits, and gently guide your body to let go of fat. After that? You must reverse out of it. Think of it like cleaning up after the party—if you skip that part, you’ll pay for it later.

Step 3: Stop Slashing Calories. Start Tweaking Strategically.

I see you, eyeballing almond butter with your heart instead of using the tablespoon and wondering why nothing’s changing. I get it, I mean come on it’s almond butter!

Real fat loss doesn’t require starvation. It requires strategy. That means taking stock of where you’re at and trimming back gently—think measuring the oil you cook with or swapping almond milk for water in your shake. Small, unsexy shifts add up.

When you go too hard, too fast, your body panics. Hunger goes up, energy crashes, and your metabolism waves the white flag.

Step 4: Track the RIGHT Wins (Spoiler: It’s Not Just the Scale)

Here’s where most women trip up: they treat the scale like it’s gospel. But progress can show up in better sleep, more stable moods, improved cravings, looser jeans, and photos where you think, “Damn, I look GOOD.”

Zoom out. Celebrate the non-scale wins. They’re often the ones that stick.

Step 5: Know When to Pivot—Maintenance and Reverse Matter

If you’ve been dieting forever, your metabolism is probably waving a red flag. That’s why maintenance and reverse dieting are non-negotiable.

Maintenance = staying within 3–5 lbs of your current weight and living your damn life.
Reverse = slowly adding calories back in without regaining fat, so your metabolism recovers and starts working for you again.

This is where your hormones can finally exhale. And so can you.

The Bottom Line

Fat loss can be part of your strategy—but it shouldn’t be your entire life.
The scale doesn’t define your worth. Your metabolism isn’t broken—it’s just tired AF from years of diet chaos.
And there’s a smarter, more sustainable way forward.

Want to know which phase your metabolism is in right now?
Take this quickt metabolism quiz to find out.

Psst…. You don’t need another diet. You need a plan that works with your body, not against it.

Because fat loss isn’t forever… but food freedom can be.
