On this episode by Kim Barnes Jefferson, she has also invited a guest to talk about mom body. The guest is her friend, Keri Mantie who has
been a fitness expert since 1997 and a mother to three boys. She coaches women on fitness and health goals.

The society expects every woman to have a certain body shape after giving birth but that is not the case. Many women are obsessed when it comes to fitness; they are either wondering what they are eating and what fitness activity they are doing.

Your job as a mom is to ensure that you keep your baby alive. You need to do this without worrying how your fitness schedule fits in. Your mindset starts to shift during pregnancy from how you look to what the pregnancy is doing. You are carrying a human being, you have too much on your plate and fitness is not one of them. It is not about the number on the scale.

Do not be hard on yourself. It is not about what you “should do”, it’s about doing your best. If you have done your best, you have done it all. You need to start embracing the
I don’t care attitude. It’s taken me years of telling myself not perfect to come to this mindset. The body will always change on it’s on timeline and you need to accept that. Some days you have to let yourself off the hook. You will still end up showing up.

Many mothers complain of how overwhelming their kids can get but you need to create some time or getting in not going to get done. Even if it’s 15 minutes in your bathrobe or a quick walk around the block with your baby. You need to leave crazy town. Change is going to come and it is okay to adjust your expectations.

Find out your non negotiables. These are things you will do no matter what, for instance a fully nutritious breakfast to get you set for the day. Decide what’ going to work for you. Be careful with social media. It can be a bit overwhelming. There are things that will work for another person but not for you. It can make you feel like you should doing more or you’re lagging behind but you need to shut it all down and stop feeling bad about yourself. You may think you can’t have wine, but I say go ahead and have a glass of wine and take your time.

There are those who can maintain the hardcore routine but for others, it is still not yet time and they cannot make the kind of sacrifices required. There is nothing wrong with that. Simply be where you are. You don’t have to give up what you love, simply ask yourself what do you love most, weigh your options and see what needs moderation and what is a no go zone.

What Do You Learn From This Episode

I often here from clients that when go to social events, they feel left out or they just don’t go. If they do go, they are the girl in the corner with duck tape of their mouths and handcuffed to a chair so that they won’t go over board with treats and booze.

Do you really want to give a cookie or a glass a wine all that power”

Why not be “That Girl” who can attend social events and know that you can enjoy yourself, but not lose it. Give yourself permission to enjoy social events. Go there with the intention of enjoying other people’s company. Have protein and veggies. Eat before you go.

Us, girls of a certain age, we don’t have many spontaneous things that come up. So.. we know when we will be attending events, so plan for it in your week. During the week enjoy your healthy lifestyle (workout out and eat on track) and then know that you are going to an event that you will enjoy yourself with moderation.

I know this sounds weird, but I have a 2 bite rule. If I don’t like it in 2 bites, I toss it. No.. it’s not wasting food, it’s helping me to stay on track. I’ve long given up on being a member of the clean your plate club.

Leave a comment below to let me know how you will enjoy your next social event.

Late last year, Angelike N.’s world shifted in almost every sense.

She had a baby. Her father passed away from a sudden bout of cancer. She accepted a promotion and relocated with her husband to another state.

So, when Oxygen magazine came knocking to see if she could get into peak condition for the cover of their March 2013 issue in just a month, it would have been easy for her to turn it down. Thankfully, she knew preparing for another Oxygen cover would be easier this time around because she had Isagenix®.

“Before a child, I used to prep and carry my food everywhere. I was a ‘chew your food’ athlete and did too much cardio and weight training,” admits 34-year-old Angelike of North Carolina. “It was a difficult lifestyle to maintain and it was made even more impossible when you have to carry a diaper bag, a stroller and manage a full-time executive career. Isagenix changed my life.”

“I trusted my Isagenix products,” continues Angelike, who started using Isagenix when her daughter Ella was six weeks old and kicked it into gear in September. “I honestly feel like the products did most of the work since my schedule was very haphazard and unpredictable.”Between late board meetings, driving long distances to support her 19 team members and working from her home office, Angelike was able to cobble together a consistent cardio and weight training regimen that included key Isagenix products such as Ionix® Supreme, Want More Energy’®, IsaPro® and IsaLean® Shakes. She skipped the boxed lunches in board meetings and on planes and opted for IsaLean Bars or an IsaLean Shake instead.

When she stepped on set for her big photo shoot with Oxygen magazine, she felt better than ever.

“I was really proud and that’s the first time I could really say that,” shares Angelike. “I was proud of all of the components of truly being ‘healthy’ coming together and shooting in my best form ever, especially after bouncing back from having a child and all of the adversity I had faced.”

Her passion for Isagenix products has caught on with her husband, mother, in-laws, and other friends. And, though she initially said “no” to creating a business because of a “lack of time,” the 2-Star Golden Circle and her husband have earned good money…even having no idea what they were doing.

She could have earned money through lucrative sponsorships with other supplement companies, but it’s never been about the money. When she’d turn over bottles and notice scary ingredients that were unhealthy, she’d turn the companies down flat.

“I just wasn’t willing to make those compromises for the sake of vanity. This is about your health,” says Angelike.

Now, as she reflects on her journey with Isagenix, she says she hopes her experience will shine a light of hope for others facing tough obstacles.

“I know people are on their knees every night praying for better health, financial freedom or freedom from their bad habit,” says Angelike. “I feel like somewhere down the line, I’ll be able to help someone else going through turmoil; to help lift them up, edify them and help them get the fight back against the things that life throws at them.”

We’ve all done it! You know look in the mirror and pick ourselves apart poking and prodding certain bodyparts and questioning why is (insert the body part) so flat or why doesn’t my (insert the body part) look like the women I saw on the cover of the latest fitness magazines’

One simple answer, MOVE IT OR LOSE IT!!
If we don’t exercise on a regular basis, we will lose about ½ of pound of muscle/year. You will lose on average 15 pounds of muscle and gain 45 pounds of fat, that’s a 60 pound change in your body from the age 20-60!

Holy (insert your expletive) !!!

So what can you do’

Step 1: Strength Train at least 20 minutes 2-3x/week
No ladies you will not bulk up, by strength training
Don’t know where to start’
Have a gym membership take a muscle sculpting class
Hire a personal trainer for a 30-minute session to show you the works
No gym membership, send me an email and we discuss some steps

Step 2: Cardio at least 20 minutes 2-3xs/week
This doesn’t mean you are reading the latest chic lit book or celebrity gossip magazine you are moving it! You should break a sweat!

Step 3: Nutrition: Eat Right
Just because you are working out, doesn’t give you a license to snap on the feedbag! Sure, you will be a little more ravenous, but our goal is drop some pounds! So please follow a sensible eating plan. We will take more about that in another post.
