Alright, friends—let me take you back to 2015.

That was the year I first stumbled across this powerhouse named Gabby Bernstein. (You may have heard of her—tiny bit of an icon in the woo-woo world.)

At the time, I was dipping my toes into the whole mindset and manifestation space. And journaling? Yeah, not really my thing… until Gabby’s book May Cause Miracles landed in my lap.

It was a 40-day journaling challenge. Forty days of getting my thoughts on paper. And guess what? I was hooked.

Then she started talking about “the Universe,” and I was like, “Okayyyy, what’s this about?” So naturally, I devoured her next book—The Universe Has Your Back. Spoiler alert: life-changing.

Next thing you know, I’m traveling to NYC to attend her live event—Spirit Junkie Masterclass. (bummer she no longer runs this event). That weekend blew my mind and basically turned me into a full-on believer in journaling and sprinkling a little woo into my life.

From that point forward, journaling became my thing. My daily ritual. My non-negotiable.

…until last year.

I got cute. Decided to “try something new.” Made it too complicated, too rigid. You know what happened? My streak broke. Just like that. I fell off the journaling wagon. ☹️

But here’s the thing: lately, I’ve been feeling the pull. You know that inner nudge that says: “It’s time to get back to what worked.”

So here we are. I’m dusting off May Cause Miracles and going back to basics.

For the next 40 days, I’m blogging my thoughts as I go—real, raw, and totally unfiltered. No complicated rules. No perfectionism. Just me, my journal, and a little woo.

If you’ve been thinking about getting back to your own practices—whether it’s journaling, meditating, or just sitting in stillness—maybe this is your sign.

I’m here for it. And I’m bringing you with me. 🚀

👉 Want to join me? Grab your journal, snag a copy May Cause Miracles if you don’t already have it, and let’s do this together.
Join me in my Facebook group and tell me if you’re in—I’d love to cheer you on!

Getting into the habit of eating healthy
and exercising is probably one of the biggest stumbling blocks for many people.
Do you shake your head and wonder, “Why is it that this is such a complex task’”😱 It may all come down to your mindset first.

To create a strong habit it comes down to having
a strong enough desire to lose weight and get healthy.

It is very easy to view weight loss as a
temporary state. How many times have you said to yourself that you can manage
to eat this way for a couple of weeks’ You may have even lasted a few weeks
longer. But has this led to long term success’ Probably not, as it wasn’t
sustainable.

First you need to really dig down deep and
discover what your reasons are for losing weight. Has your doctor told you to
drop some pounds for health reasons’ Are you totally sick of not fitting into
your clothes’ Want to look good in pics on your next vacation’ Take the time to
find your reasons and then write them down.

Your next step will be to figure out how
you can make these changes into your life. What time do you have for exercising
and cooking healthy meals’ If your time is limited, then look at cooking in
batches and freezing portions.

The same applies to workouts, what workouts
do you like and when can you fit this in’ Do early morning’s work, lunch time,
after work’

Now you are ready to start forming your new
habits. Remember that you don’t have to change things overnight. Start out by
cutting down on one or two items. Eating more veggies, adding in more good fats
or having few treats. Then when you feel you have this under control, change
another aspect.

Combining eating healthier with exercising
can really help speed up your results. Make a commitment to leisure walk for 20
minutes three times a week. Do this for three weeks and your walking habit will
be ingrained in you. Then you can either add in another day or walk for longer
each time.

To get your exercise in early in the day
try getting up 30 minutes earlier. Or if you take public transport, take an
earlier bus and get off one or two stops earlier.

Forming a new habit doesn’t have to mean completely changing your lifestyle, it means just adding one or two new steps into your routine for the better.

Want to know your fitness personality’ Click here

This has GOTTA to stop.

You know that you can’t get to where you want to go if you continue doing the same things you are doing now.

The funny thing is you know this logically, but ……deep down, there is a voice inside of you crying for a change.

I know this because I’ve been there.

This pic is my beginning! Guess what we all have to start somewhere =)

I have pissed off texts to my best friends and a closet full of clothes that I no longer fit.

I was done looking in the mirror and not liking what I saw

I was done complaining and blaming everyone who could not help me get my shit together

I was done on the diet hamster wheel and knew it HAD to change.

(wanna know how: it didn’t have to do with eating less and working out more) plus I didn’t have to make a good food list and a bad foods list.

Let me be honesty, I didn’t have the time, energy or resources to give a fuck what others think about me ……

When YOU stop caring about what others think, YOU start to feel good in your own skin,
YOU learn how to accept yourself and give yourself grace.

Sound like you’

If you ready for it to be different — Iet’s talk!

Stay tuned more to come on this subject

You know this may sound like something your mother would say, but it’s true .You fail when you give up.

Totally cheesy right’ Let’s talk about failure.

I really wish I could sit here and say hey I’m perfect, but I’m so far from it.
I use to chase perfection, tried so hard to control the uncontrollable, till one day I cried until.

Being perfect was EXHAUSTING!

Seriously who’s measuring stick was I comparing myself to’ Mine’ Friends’ Family’ Some chick I follow on social media’

Good grief.

Here is where I fail and strive to do my best. I measure everything by Good, Better and Best.

My diet — I eat healthy most of the time, but I do love a nice glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc and ahhh coffee Oreo ice-cream (Dreamweaver moment). I’ve removed most of the foods from my life that don’t really work well for me do allow for fun foods. Sure there times that I over do it and feel fat and bloated. Its in those moments that I learn where my boundaries – no more beating myself up.

Procrastination — I am the queen of this!! It’s taken me so time but I’ve become much better at beating procrastination. I used to put up all these barriers to get started – things had to be perfect in order to start, I had to have the right pen, it had to be a Monday. AHHH – yes, I still have those moments but right now I focus picking three things each day and taking action.

Expectations — I am my own worst critic. For as long as I can remember I’ve had high expectations of myself and others. It was my lost of “control” that made me feel I needed to control everything. I’ve gotten better at holding looser expectations of myself, but from time to time I do still feel frustrated/disappointed when people or situations don’t meet them.

I failed at all these things and more.

How did I make this turn around did I wake up one with magic fairy dust, nope!!

It can be a tough turn around when you have feelings of being a failure in your heart’

The best way through is taking action. Trust me I know when you feel like shit about yourself of the situation that you may be n the last thing you want to do is take action. One of the best books I’ve read about this is Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway. You take the action anyway.

You take it because you know if you don’t, you feel worse, and the time is going to pass anyway so you might as well go for it. Plug your nose and dive into the deep end!

Here’s what I do:

I take a breath. It’s not the end of the world to fail. I just need some space, some distance. I need to see the problem in perspective. When I do, I realize that some of the goals that I’m trying to achieve are pretty minor in the grand scheme of my life.

I reframe the failure. One of my mentors says failure feeds your future. Failure shows you the path that’s not right for you. It’s the universe giving you feedback. Failure is part of the learning process Think of it like this, you have not failed as a person, you your method failed. Then ask what needs to change to get the results that I want’

I change the method. If the way I was doing it didn’t work, I need to find a new way. What can I do differently’ In most of the cases, I added some accountability. I can procrastinate and hide from stuff like a champ! I also needed to ask for help and admit I didn’t know all the answers and I looked for inspiration.

I take the first step. Yes, this could feel like you are stepping off a ledge, but when you break it down to one simple step you can take this it gets a little easier to take the step. I had to admit ot myself that I can’t solve any of my stuff overnight, or even in a few days. I can, however, take one tiny step toward my ultimate goal. And that’s all that matters.

Ask yourself, what do you want’ Are you willing to take one step’ Any step.

That one steps lets you take a deep breath. It shows you that things aren’t impossible. It starts to dissolve your disbelief and begins to shift your mindset into belief mode.

Each day I ask myself what’s my one thing that I’m working toward and what’s one small step I can talk.

If you like this approach, these the methods that I talk about in my Freedom Collective.

Self –esteem is all about how you value yourself, your beliefs, and your capabilities.

How would you rate your self-esteem’

I’m more than capable of handling challenges that life throws my way.
I have strong supportive relationships
I easily recover from setbacks
I typically see things in a positive or negative light

We all have those days where we are rocking it and those days where we want to pull the covers over our heads and hide. Self Esteem is a bigger drive or motivation for all of us. When your self-esteem is high you don’t care what people think, you don’t compare yourself to others, you feel unstoppable and capable of achieving everything!! You’ll feel that anything is possible.

We all have those days when just aren’t feeling it. Days that our mindset is just messing with us and our self-esteem can use a little bump!

When I’m having one of those days here are some things I do to pull me out of the spiral.

1. Comparison is the thief of joy. When you are in a bad place you only see other people good days and wonder WHY we can’t do the same thing. WHY is it taking so long. AHH the pressure to get shit done as fast as possible. How do you break free’

Instead of comparing yourself to everyone else, make a list of all the awesome things you have done, achieved and accomplished. Make a list of everything you have to be grateful for even if it’s opening your eyes this morning and putting your feet on the ground. By taking the time to do these two things you may surprise yourself, and see yourself with more positivity and pride.

2. Set realistic goals. Be honest about your goals. The point of having goals and reaching them is to make sure you have enough time to finish your work without sabotaging the quality. It starts by clearly identifying your goals, so that you’re setting yourself up for success and a boost in self-esteem. As you set you your goals, set a reward for yourself. It will boost your morale and help you plan you next set of goals with more clarity and focus.

3. Bust the stress. Stress can stop you in your tracks, stress is one of those things that makes you want to eat your face off OR not do a damn thing! When you get stressed try one of these to help defuse the situation.

Each one of them takes only a few seconds:

Count to 10 slowly

Take deep breaths

Excuse yourself from the situation for any reason and explain you’ll handle it later

Set your watch 10 minutes ahead

Break down the problem into smaller parts, and tackle each one on its own

Do something kind for someone else

4. Find time to do things you enjoy. I know we all lead busy lives, but just 5 minutes a day can do a world of good. You’ll feel more calm and more in control of your emotions. Plus when you learn to relax it helps to lower cortisol and adrenaline levels (which leads to belly fat).

Give one of these a try

Learn something new –I’m practicing Qigong

Connect with friends, family and neighbors

Be physically active

Seek out a new hobby, or rekindle your love for an old one

Get a massage

Read a book

Are you free on Thursday night 8pm EST’ I will be hosting a Masterclass on Self Sabotage.

I’ll be breaking down how:

to set realistic goals and break free from perfection

have the courage to pick one goal and focus that and see it though

start slowly to make changes so that you can actually see results making you want to continue

This is the year you go into 2018 feeling blissful, you know that feeling of utter contentment that you get from having your first cup of coffee, that amazing glass of Rose’ or feeling your toes in sand.

Will you join me”

There have been plenty of times when you sit down to just have one and then the next thing you know that bag is empty. I’ve been there. Just because we have one slip up doesn’t mean you weight loss efforts are doomed. I know first hand that binge eating can make you feel stupid.

The key to finding a balanced and healthy weight loss plan is properly managing what you eat. Sounds simple right” To do this, you need to monitor the nutritional values of the foods that you put into your body and to make sure you don’t go overboard by eating way more than you should. Again sounds so simple right” Let’s be honest with each other a few slips here and there won’t break up all the hard work you’ve put into your healthy lifestyle. What is an absolute diet killer is binge eating. One of the biggest problems with binge eating is that, while it’s happening we don’t even realize that it’s happening. If you worry you’re at risk for binge eating or just want to become aware of when it’s happening, here are a few tips.

Binge eating isn’t healthy – physically or mentally. Here are tips to help.

First things first, don’t give yourself access to binge/trigger foods. These are the foods that we can eat and eat. Think about the goldfish, it can eat its weight in food and then literally explode because it doesn’t have the food shut off value. Think to yourself for a minute do you have any foods that you are unable to control” For many of us, the big offenders are chips, crackers, candies just about anything that comes in super size. For me its ice cream, I can so go gold fish on that stuff. If you’re really serious about staying away from binge eating and sticking with a healthy lifestyle then just don’t allow yourself access to these kinds of foods or keep them in your home. You can’t eat what you don’t have, right’

If you don’t live in a space where you can control your access to binge foods (family members, kids, roommates etc.) then you should shift your focus towards good portioning habits. Portioning is one of the key points of good nutrition management and this goes double for snacks. If you want to have a snack that you know can be unhealthy if it gets out of control, buy in proportioned packaging. This way you won’t hit the bottom of the bag and wonder what happened. Just make sure not to go overboard and have more than one snack serving at a time.

The greatest protection against binge eating is remaining vigilant against it. Like I said before, bingeing is also referred to as mindless snacking which can’t happen if you’re paying close attention to the foods you’re buying and eating. You can’t accidentally eat a whole bag of chips or box of donuts if you’re making sure to monitor and track all the things you’re eating. Your own level of focus is the best guard you have against the dangers of binge eating. With that said, I’m not saying become OBSSESED about food but aware of what you are putting into your shopping cart and what you are putting into your mouth. Are you choices moving you toward your fitness goal’

At the end of the day, persistence in your drive to reach your weight loss goals. Even if you find yourself slipping or notice that you’ve binged on snacks that doesn’t mean your diet is over and you should give up. All it means is you made a small slip up and you have to be more careful next time, something you’ll be sure to do after you’ve recognized what lead to your binge eating in the first place.

One the biggest things that stops us in our tracks is self belief, confidence whatever you want to call it. Self-belief isn’t optional. It’s vital. Think of all the things you haven’t accomplished or tried because you didn’t have enough belief in yourself. I’m not saying that self-doubt won’t creep in at times, but I want to share with you the importance of how to belief in yourself.

We all have doubts even me!!! I’ve given myself plenty of pep talks in the mirror!!! I want to share with you how to create a reserve of self-belief and you really can accomplish nearly anything you can imagine. What would you do if you believed you could do essentially anything’ How would your life be different’ How would you feel’

Are you ready to have a little more faith in yourself’

Examine your beliefs. You weren’t born with any limiting beliefs. You learned every single one of them. We all learn to limit ourselves unfairly. Give yourself the credit you deserve. What is a limiting a belief — they are stories that you tell yourself that keep you from living your full potential. Many of us don’t even know we have them.

Think about the limiting beliefs you already have. Do what you can to discard them. Ask yourself if this limiting belief is really legitimate. Where did it come from’ What evidence do you have that it simply isn’t true’

Give yourself an unlimited number of opportunities to be successful. It’s easy to be filled with doubt if you think you only have once chance to get it right. Give yourself permission to “fail” as many times as necessary. Learn something from each attempt. Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement.” – C.S. Lewis

Eliminate self-criticism. As soon as self-doubt starts to invade your thoughts, ask yourself where that inner critic is coming from.

Are you channeling a negative experience from the past’

Is the source of this criticism credible’ It rarely is.

It can be challenging to quiet your mind, but that doesn’t mean you have to let it drag you down. Focus on positive self-talk.

Trust and love yourself. For one month, try being your best friend instead of your worst enemy. If you had someone who was struggling with the challenges you are facing would you be mean and cruel to them or would be be encouraging” Would you be willing to brainstorm was around the challenge’ Break it down so that it wasn’t overwhelming and challenging’

Coach yourself. Everyone needs a little support and encouragement. So when you find yourself struggling, consider what you would say to someone in that same situation. When self-doubt starts to creep in, take a few minutes to coach yourself. We all have to be our own cheerleaders now and then. I’m a big believer in affirmations. I have a great app in my phone that reminds to me to positive.

Think about how you would like to act. Think about how you would think and behave if you were full of self-confidence.

You can effectively borrow traits from others, too. Who are some of your heroes’ Sometimes it easier to imagine others dealing with a situation than to imagine ourselves. See yourself acting the way your hero would act. Think of someone who has what you want. Think of what is is about them that makes you admire them. Write down the similar qualities that you have in common and they write down the ones that you need to embody.

Remember all your past victories. We’ve all accomplished some pretty impressive things, but we’re quick to forget them. Grab a pen and some paper and list all the successes you’ve experienced in life, no matter how great or small.

If you need help, ask a trusted friend or family member. You might be surprised at what you hear.

Self-belief isn’t about becoming arrogant or turning a blind-eye to one’s flaws. The belief you have in yourself needs to be focused on what you wish to become. You can have weaknesses. Everyone does. But there is value in being relaxed about your weaknesses and working to strengthen them.

A strong belief in yourself is a sure ticket to reaching great success. Build your self-belief and seemingly impossible tasks can become routine.

Are you one of those people who follow through on their actions or do you find that your good intentions fall to the wayside quickly’ Regardless of which type of person you may classify yourself as, why not make this year the year which belongs to you’

This your my mantra is I finish everything I start!

While this may sound like a huge challenge, by breaking it down into smaller steps the picture becomes much clearer. When it comes to setting goals many people often make lofty goals, those that are almost unattainable or out of reach. It’s no wonder that these ambitions and goals are given up almost as fast as they were set.
So how do you set easy to reach goals that will lead you on the path of your dreams’

One of the first things that you need to accomplish is to think about what your goals are. Now we don’t mean traveling the world living out of fancy hotels. We that an awesome goal, don’t get me wrong, but for this blog post I mean the goals that are going to help you lead the life you have always dreamed of. If your goal was to travel the world what would be the steps you need to take to accomplish this’

By breaking down a main goal into smaller segments you are working towards your end goal. Building on the travel goal, what would you need to make this come true’ Lots of money for one thing. How would you get this money’ This would become a smaller goal. Once you had the money how would you travel, where would you go and how long would you stay in each place. All of these steps are smaller goals that need to be determined.
Do you see how these smaller steps are building up to the main goal’ Perfect, this is exactly how you can make this year belong to you.
First define what your end goal is. Then plan out all of the steps you need to take to get there. This might include earning more money, saving money regularly, learning a new skill or it might involve losing weight and getting fit.

Regardless of your end goal, once you have planned out your steps you want to treat each one as a mini goal. Then take each mini goal and work on it until you have reached it. Then take the next one and build upon that. Repeat this process until you can see your end goal in sight.
Along the way you are going to come face to face with stumbling blocks and of course, life will get in the way. All of these things are perfectly normal. What matters is the manner in which you deal with these road blocks. These will occur, so how will you jump over, around under or through!!

For people losing weight it can be difficult when you reach a plateau for weeks and weeks. It is easier to give up and revert back to your old habits. Those people that are really determined and motivated to reach their target goal will look for ways to deal with these plateaus. These people are fighters!
When working towards a goal you do not always have to work hard on it every day. Sometimes it is healthy to take a short break, just don’t let this become a vacation though!

You may find it easier to schedule certain days of the week to work on your goal so that you don’t…
Tweet This

. Working on a new goal means finding ways to fit it into your life without placing something or someone else in jeopardy.
With this in mind you now have the tools and a plan of attack to make this year belong to you in any way you see fit.

I was a bikini competitor for nine years and through those years, I’ve learned some great life lessons that I want to share with you.

Diets don’t work. You need to make this a lifestyle

Don’t restrict your foods. the more restrict the more you will want and then you will just lose in binging.

Just it a try. Weight loss can be a little bit like russian roulette. You don’t know what will work for your body until you give it a try.

Stop counting calories. Your body has no idea what a calorie anymore than it knows what a mile is. Just like a mile a calorie is a unit of measure. Calories don’t cause you to gain or lose weight. it’s that TYPES of foods you choose to fuel your body is what cause you weight gain or lose

Stop the dieting rules. when I was competing I was so strict. There were so many rules around my food and my workouts. Now instead of rules I focus on good, better and best. In any given situation I determine — what’s a good choice, the better choice and what’s the best choice. This shuts down the guilt and silences the food referee.

Here’s a bonus for you — it’s okay to take a 1-2 rest days/week. It’s in the rest days that our bodies give us the gains that we are seeking.

My following these lessons I’ve been able to go from this hard core fitness competing mentality to a lifestyle where I’m happy with the workouts that I do and I’m happy with the food choices that I make. I’m not longer mentally torturing myself with that internal battle of why am I eating this, I know that I will need to go to the gym to work it off or instead of being present with my family and friends my mind is like I should be at the gym.

If you are a former/current bikini competitor I would love to hear your feedback. Just leave me a comment below.

I will be starting up my Lean & Sexy program at the beginning of January. It’s in this program I break down my rules and share with you how to make this work for you. For more information click here.
