Let’s get honest: how many summers have you told yourself, “I’ll get back on track after vacation”? Only to find yourself in September, feeling frustrated and starting over again.
I’ve been there.
For years, I lived in that cycle. I believed I had to go all in to see results. If I wasn’t sore, starving, and checking off every box, then it didn’t count. If I didn’t do it perfectly, I figured it wasn’t even worth trying.
That mindset had me waking up at 5am on vacation to squeeze in a workout. Googling restaurants ahead of time to make sure I could stay “on plan.” Bringing protein shakes to parties. Skipping the wine. Punishing myself for eating ice cream.
But here’s what I finally realized: that strategy? It doesn’t work long-term. Not for me. Not for my clients. And especially not for women over 40.
Because life is messy. It’s full of beach days, barbecues, work trips, kids at home, and total unpredictability. And if your plan only works when everything is perfect? That plan is trash.
We need something that works in real life.
Here’s what I see all the time: women waiting for the perfect moment to start. Waiting for life to calm down. Waiting until after the trip, after the wedding, after back-to-school.
But here’s the deal—life doesn’t slow down. And starting and stopping only makes it harder to get back on track. For women over 40, those “just a couple pounds” don’t drop off like they used to. That stop-start cycle? It adds up.
Consistency over perfection.
Not sexy, but sustainable.
I created something I call Non-Negotiables. These are 1-3 habits I commit to, no matter what. They don’t require hours in the gym or complicated meal plans. Just simple, doable actions that I can take with me anywhere.
Think:
That’s it.
It’s not about being perfect. It’s about building momentum. Because when you build routines that hold up in chaos? That’s when you stop starting over.
This is exactly why I created the Unsexy Summer Shred. It’s an 8-week experience focused on consistency, not punishment. We ditch the all-or-nothing mindset and build habits that actually stick—even when you’re on vacation or life gets crazy.
You don’t have to wake up at 5am to earn your rosé. You don’t need to skip the BBQ. You just need a plan that fits your real life. That’s what this is.
So this summer, instead of saying, “I’ll get back on track later,” imagine this:
It’s Labor Day. You’re looking back and thinking, “I didn’t just survive the summer. I actually figured out how to stay consistent.”
Not because you were perfect. But because you built something that lasted.
