Better, Not Perfect, The Mindset Shift That Actually Gets Results
Let’s be real.
If you’re a Type A go-getter, high-achiever, checklist queen, this one’s for you.
Because I know you. You love a gold star. You want to nail every habit, every macro, every workout. You think, If I just do it perfectly, I’ll finally get the result.
But here’s the truth:
Perfection is what’s keeping you stuck.
When you chase perfect, you wake up every day thinking:
“I’m not there yet.”
“I still have so far to go.”
“Why can’t I get it together?”
And when life happens, you miss a workout, grab takeout, skip tracking, your brain screams “failure!” You start to believe it’s all-or-nothing, so you wait for the perfect Monday, the perfect plan, the perfect time.
Spoiler alert: none of that exists.
The “Better” Mindset
Now let’s flip it.
When you focus on better, you stay curious.
You start to notice what’s working.
You build momentum.
You wake up thinking:
“Hey, I did better than yesterday.”
“Tomorrow, I’ll do even better.”

When you go for better, you’re focused on the process, not just the outcome. You stop trying to overhaul your whole life in a week. You start stacking small wins that actually stick.
That’s how progress happens, one better at a time.
Why Perfect Backfires
Perfection sounds noble, but it’s a sneaky trap.
It tricks you into thinking you’re failing because you’re not “there” yet.
It piles on pressure, steals joy, and turns your healthy habits into chores.
And let’s be honest, the stress of trying to be perfect is often what’s blocking your results in the first place.
You don’t need more pressure.
You need more grace.
Here’s Your Challenge
Stop asking, “Was I perfect today?”
Start asking, “Was I better?”
✅ Did I drink more water?
✅ Get a little more sleep?
✅ Choose protein at one meal?
✅ Take a walk instead of scrolling?
That’s better.
And better is what builds the life (and body) you want.
