You might be wondering…
Why am I talking about LinkedIn?
Isn’t this supposed to be a fitness podcast?
Fair question.
But here’s something I’ve noticed after years of coaching women.
A lot of the stress women carry has nothing to do with their workouts or metabolism.
It’s their job.
The job they’ve outgrown.
The job that drains their energy.
Or the job they wish they could leave but don’t know how.
And when work stress is high, it spills into everything.
Sleep.
Energy.
Food choices.
Motivation to work out.
So yes, your career absolutely impacts your health.
That’s why I invited LinkedIn strategist Katie Corliss onto the podcast to talk about how to actually use LinkedIn to open doors for your next opportunity.
And the conversation was eye-opening.
One of the biggest mistakes people make is treating LinkedIn like a static résumé.
They create their profile once.
Then they wait.
But LinkedIn is actually a platform built around visibility and connection.
When people can see what you’re working on, what you’re learning, and what you’re good at, opportunities start to appear.
Not because you’re chasing them…
But because the right people can finally find you.
Katie shared something that surprised a lot of people.
You don’t need to post every day.
You don’t need to spend hours on the platform.
Most people can make a real impact with:
2–3 posts per week and about 30 minutes a day.
That’s it.
And those posts don’t have to be complicated.
One of the biggest reasons people don’t post is simple:
They don’t know what to say.
But the best posts are usually the simplest ones.
For example, you can share:
A networking event you attended
A conference or professional meeting
A business book you’re reading
A quick poll related to your industry
A project you worked on
These kinds of posts help people understand what you do and what you’re interested in.
And that makes it easier for the right opportunities to find you.
Katie also shared a LinkedIn tip that many people don’t know.
Instead of scrolling the “Jobs” tab endlessly, try searching the platform like this:
“Now hiring + your job title.”
Then filter for posts from the last 30 days.
Why does this work?
Because those posts are often written by:
Hiring managers
Employees at the company
Recruiters
Which means you’re seeing opportunities directly from people who are involved in the hiring process.
If you haven’t updated your LinkedIn profile in a while, a few small changes can make a big impact.
Katie recommends:
Update your profile photo regularly.
Changing it a few times per year shows LinkedIn you’re an active user.
Use the first few lines of your About section wisely.
Those first lines are what hook people and make them want to keep reading.
Talk about your skills and wins.
Your profile should focus on what you bring to the table, not just the company you work for.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or drained, sometimes the issue isn’t your workout routine.
Sometimes it’s your environment.
And your job plays a huge role in that.
When you feel excited about your work and confident in your direction, everything else tends to feel easier.
That’s why conversations like this matter.
Because sometimes the biggest change you can make for your health…
Is changing what you do every day.
